This story is exactly why Ofcom need to change legislation to allow drone countermeasures. Repulse can be used in the front of an aircraft to prevent drones coming in a close proximity and causing a catastrophe. I'm sure all pilots would agree that if they had protection from drones it would make for less worrying flights.

New drone law coming to the U.K. preventing drones flying within 1km of an airport and not above 400ft.
So on final approach at 1km a 747's altitude is just 200ft so legally you can fly a drone above a landing jumbo. WHO MAKES THESE RULES??????

NO DRONES
Repulse® prevents drones being used to deliver contraband into prisons..
Using about the same power as a standard WIFI router the Repulse unit can repel all types of commercial drones at distances of over 1km. The unit creates an exclusion field on both the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands which is over 160 degrees wide and 160 degrees vertically. Any drone encountering the electronic enforcement field will be immediately forced to return to its sender. The unit can be left on continuously to provide 24/7 protection.
The internal battery provides up to 6 hours of operation , for longer periods of operation an external 12VDC source is required. At only 2.5kg this complete unit is both small and light and ideal for portable applications as it can be deployed in seconds.
For most establishments 2 units suitably placed can provide almost 360 degree protection.
